A couple kisses in Gundogdu square in Izmir on June 9, 2013 where demonstrators have been camping out as part of anti-government protests across Turkey. Demonstrators packed the streets of Turkish cities as the crisis entered it’s tenth day, challenging Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s call to end their civil uprising. The campaign to protect Gezi Park’s 600 trees, the last patch of green in the heart of the Turkey’s largest city, was met with a violent police crackdown last week, triggering anti-government demos across the country that have left thousands injured by police using tear gas and water cannon.
